Silver prices on fire! Payal and Bichhiya disappeared from the government mass marriage scheme, now daughters will get this big benefit
Skyrocketing silver prices are now affecting the government benefits given to the daughters of poor families for their marriage. The government has made a significant change regarding the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme. Under this new arrangement, the silver anklets and toe rings given to the bride in the wedding hall have been eliminated.
However, there is no loss for the daughters. In exchange for this silver jewellery, an additional cash amount of Rs 4,000 will now be sent directly to the bride’s bank account. An official order has been issued regarding this new rule. After the order comes into effect, silver items will be completely removed from the tenders of companies and firms supplying wedding items.
Understanding the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme
The Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme is a government initiative designed to help daughters of poor families get married with dignity and celebration. Under this scheme, the government spends a total of Rs 1 lakh on the marriage of every couple. Of this total budget, Rs 60,000 was sent directly to the bride’s bank account, while Rs 25,000 worth of essential gifts and household items were provided.
The remaining Rs 15,000 is spent on grand wedding celebrations, food and drinks for the guests, and other arrangements. The district administration was preparing for marriages in the current financial year when the government made a major change to the gift items list.
New Budget Allocation for Brides
According to the new government order, the budget of wedding gifts has been reduced from Rs 25,000 to Rs 21,000. The Rs 4,000 deducted from the gifts has been directly added to the bride’s bank account. This means that earlier Rs 60,000 was deposited in the daughters’ account, but now Rs 64,000 will be directly transferred to their account.
Apart from the increased cash amount, the remaining gift items will continue to be provided to the daughters as before. Officials explain that silver prices have been continuously rising in the market, with huge fluctuations occurring daily. These volatile prices were creating problems in the tender process and supply, prompting the decision to remove silver from the gift list.
Officials Confirm the Changes
Chief Development Officer Abhishek Kumar confirmed that both silver items—anklets and toe rings—have been removed from the gift materials of the mass marriage scheme. In their place, Rs 4,000 extra will be sent to the girl’s account, increasing the total cash amount from Rs 60,000 to Rs 64,000.
According to Rampur District Social Welfare Officer Suraj Kumari, the silver items have been removed from the government list due to the significant increase in silver prices in the market. A proposal to provide Rs 4,000 in cash as a replacement has been fully prepared and approved. Based on this new government approval and rules, preparations for future weddings will proceed accordingly.
