LPG Gas Cylinder: The era of gas cylinder is over forever! All gas agencies will be closed due to the new order of the government

LPG cylinders are gradually going to disappear from kitchens across the country. The government has now gone all out to promote PNG (Piped Natural Gas) instead of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) i.e. red gas cylinder. The number of customers using PNG is increasing very rapidly in every district.
Meanwhile, such a big order has been issued by the government, which has created panic among the customers using LPG and the gas agency owners. The government has given clear orders that piped PNG gas should be delivered to the homes of 100 percent (100 percent) of LPG consumers as soon as possible.
Under this new rule, as soon as PNG gas is started in your house, you will have to surrender your old LPG gas connection i.e. return it forever. This decision will provide great relief to the common consumers from the hassle of repeatedly booking the cylinder and its expiry, but all the gas agencies of the country are facing a big crisis of being locked forever. Along with this, hundreds of employees working in these agencies and delivery men who deliver heavy cylinders to your homes will also become unemployed.
International war became a big reason, why did the government take this decision
There is a huge tension going on in the world behind this sudden big decision. In fact, the worst and direct impact of the fierce war going on between America and Israel over Iran has been on petroleum products. Due to this war, the supply of LPG coming to India from the international market has been greatly affected, which is why now the entire focus of the government has been on indigenous and safe PNG gas.
In this connection, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Government SP Goyal has sent a very important and strong letter to the DMs (District Magistrates) of all the districts of the state. In this government letter, orders have been clearly given that all LPG consumers should be shifted to PNG as soon as possible.
It has also been told in this letter that due to the recent violent incidents that have taken place in the maritime area of ’Strait of Hormuz’ due to the war, it has become extremely important to reduce India’s dependence on LPG. Therefore, immediate and effective steps should be taken to promote the use of PNG as cooking fuel. For this, the district administration has been instructed to hold meetings with the owners of gas agencies and their representatives of their respective areas and start immediate action to shift LPG consumers to 100 percent PNG based on availability.
Gas agencies on the verge of closure, operators expressed their pain
After this new order of the government, a big crisis has arisen in front of the gas agency operators regarding their future. He says that the gas agency business is no longer as profitable as before, because the commission of the agencies has not been increased even by one rupee for the last several years. Now, with the entry of PNG, the very existence of the agencies is under threat.
On this matter, President of Rampur LPG Distributors Federation, Amit Diwakar said that if gradually all the LPG customers will convert to PNG, then the people running the gas agencies will face a serious problem of livelihood. He says that a gas agency not only feeds the owner but also the families of the 20 to 25 employees working there, hence the government should Some concrete consideration must also be given regarding these helpless employees.
Similarly, Ankit Jain of Tanda Gas Service, while explaining the legal reality of this change, said that this system of PNG was already running in big metros, but the Central Government has issued a new notification on 14 March 2026 and has implemented it as a clear legal rule in the entire country. Under this new law, now every customer will have to surrender his LPG connection, to whose house the PNG pipeline has reached.
On the other hand, companies are also working day and night to implement the government’s intentions. Area Manager of Hindustan Petroleum (HP) Neeraj Kumar said that the entire emphasis of the government is now on expanding the PNG network. As per the wish of the state government, the work of laying pipelines is going on at a very fast pace in the districts and more than two thousand new PNG connections have been started in their area alone.
