Raina said that Hardik Pandya has suffered injuries several times, which is a matter of concern. By the next ODI World Cup, India should have a reliable backup for them.

This is a concern that has remained with India for years. Hardik is the only real fast-bowling all-rounder who can provide balance to the ODI team. However, recurring fitness issues have continued to impact his availability, leaving India weaker in his absence. The effect of that dependence was clearly visible during the 2023 ODI World Cup. After Hardik’s injury midway through the tournament, India found it difficult to replace him with a player who could provide the same balance to the team; And in the end the team reached the final without the sixth bowling option.
