Government’s sudden big decision regarding petrol and diesel, now this strict rule applies to petrol pumps

Petrol Diesel New Rules: Amidst the growing crisis in West Asia (Middle East), there is panic around the world regarding the supply of crude oil. In view of this big oil crisis, the Central Government has taken a very shocking and big decision. The government has completely banned industrial, commercial and institutional users from purchasing petrol and diesel directly from petrol pumps. Now these big buyers will have to buy the fuel they need only from bulk sale points. The government has also issued an official notification in this regard on Thursday. This step of the government has been taken with the aim of preventing hoarding of diesel and ensuring that there is no shortage of fuel for the general public.
These strict restrictions will remain in effect for the next 90 days, limits fixed
According to the new notification issued by the government, these new restrictions will initially be in effect for the next 90 days. In this order, strict instructions have been given to all petrol pump dealers that they cannot sell more than 200 liters of high-speed diesel in a day to any one customer or vehicle. Along with this, the government has also made it clear that this high-speed diesel purchased from petrol pumps cannot be resold at any price. The direct objective of this step of the government is to maintain continuous availability of fuel for common consumers and essential services like ambulance.
After all, why did the government have to take this big step?
In fact, for some time now, a sudden and unusual increase in the demand for diesel was being seen in many areas of the country. Investigation revealed that due to huge difference in prices, big commercial and bulk users had started buying fuel directly at retail petrol pumps instead of wholesale depots. For example, In Delhi, the price of diesel at petrol pumps for the general public is ₹ 95.20 per liter, while in bulk the same diesel is available at ₹ 134.50 per liter. This huge difference came because the government oil companies kept retail prices under control to protect the general public from the blow of inflation, which big industrial buyers started taking advantage of. To stop this, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued ‘Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel Order, 2026’ and has imposed a ban of 90 days on this bulk purchase from retail outlets.
What is high-speed diesel and where is it used?
This question might be arising in the minds of many people that what is this high-speed diesel on which the government has banned. Let us tell you that high-speed diesel is a standard diesel fuel prepared from petroleum. It is mainly used to power our everyday vehicles, large commercial trucks, heavy construction equipment and power generators. Apart from this, this fuel is also used in off-road construction works, modern farming machines and running large petroleum drilling equipment. It is also used as the main fuel in large diesel generators and gas turbines installed in factories and societies.
