Big blow to Team India before T20 World Cup, Star Player Shreyanka Patil out due to injury

 India’s off-spinner Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the Women’s T20 World Cup due to an ankle injury and has been replaced by leg-spinner Prema Rawat, who has not played a single international match yet.
Patil, 23, was injured during India’s 95-run win against the Netherlands on Wednesday. The incident happened in the last over of the powerplay when Patil got injured while trying to stop the ball. Due to this he sprained his ankle.

According to the ICC media release, “The Competition Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved the inclusion of Prema Rawat in place of Shreyanka Patil in the Indian team.”
24-year-old Rawat has been included in the senior national team for the first time. She has played six matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore in two seasons of the Women’s Premier League.

Rawat was part of the India A squad that is scheduled to play a six-match series against England starting with the first T20 match in Northampton on Saturday.
She also had a stellar performance in the Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup, where she took eight wickets at an economy rate of 4.27 as India A won the title.
