PM Modi said – Relations with Slovakia will get new momentum, there will be a big focus on Green Tech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Slovakia on the second leg of his three-nation European tour. This is a historic moment as this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.

During his visit to Bratislava, PM Modi will hold high-level talks with Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico. He will also meet key business leaders to discuss new opportunities in the areas of trade, investment, defense cooperation, automobile manufacturing and infrastructure development.

India and Slovakia Want to Increase Trade

In a joint press conference with Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the two leaders discussed in detail how to give a “new direction and new momentum” to mutual cooperation between India and Slovakia. PM Modi noted that the progress made in their mutual trade and economic partnership is a matter of satisfaction for both nations.

However, he emphasized that the potential is greater and aspirations are even greater. He highlighted key sectors like automobile, railways, advanced manufacturing and green technology as priority areas for future cooperation between the two countries.

PM Modi said that both leaders have taken many important decisions by combining their forces for the benefit of the people of both countries. He also discussed taking forward India’s engagement with the European Union, especially on the Free Trade Agreement, and expressed gratitude for Slovakia’s support.

Historic Partnership Agreement

PM Modi expressed special gratitude to the Prime Minister for Slovakia’s support in finalizing the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. He stated that both nations will work towards implementing it soon so that industries, startups and businessmen of both countries can get maximum benefit from it.

Prime Minister Modi described his visit to Slovakia as a historic milestone in India-Slovakia relations and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico. He noted that this is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia, and expressed happiness that on this historic occasion the two nations have decided to take their relations to the level of “Comprehensive Partnership”.
