Beyond Entrepreneurship: How Kishor Navandar Is Building a Legacy of Purpose, Partnerships, and People
Success is frequently judged by the money made, by market value, or market share in current business world. However, there is an increasing group of business people who care less about what they make than what they will leave behind.

For , Founder and Chairman & Managing Director of Blue Billion Group, entrepreneurship has always been about creating value that extends beyond the balance sheet. It may be because of his vision to build institutions that leave behind legacies. That is perhaps the reason why he has been regarded more of an entrepreneur-philanthropist by most people who have had dealings with him.
“Business is not just about making money,” Navandar says, very clearly. “It is about creating opportunities—opportunities for people, communities, and for generations to come.”
This is a principle that has guided him through almost every stage of his career.
Today, the Blue Billion Group has become a diversified company with ventures in the fields of hospitality, real estate, renewables, beverages, infrastructure, adventure tourism, and lifestyle brands. However, he does not look at diversification merely as a form of expansion. Each of these verticals is part of an ecosystem that can help in the economic development of India.
His leadership extends well beyond his own companies.
As National President of the Asian African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI), he actively works to strengthen business relationships between India and emerging international markets. As Council Chairman – Hospitality & Tourism at the Knowledge Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he contributes to discussions around tourism development, investment, and policy. He also serves as an Independent Director of VIP Clothing Limited, a company listed on both the BSE and NSE, bringing strategic oversight and governance experience to the boardroom. Alongside these responsibilities, he is the Co-founder of KavyaKrishna, an Indian heritage ethnic clothing brand that seeks to preserve traditional craftsmanship while presenting it through contemporary design.
In essence, his roles speak volumes about an individual who sees influence not as a right but as a responsibility to contribute to the success of an organization or community.
The same philosophy characterizes his hospitality business.
While some of the developers associate luxury with architecture, special amenities, or high prices, Navandar offers his own definition of the term.
According to him, luxury means making people feel connected – with a place, with nature, with culture, and with each other.
This philosophy is shaping the expansion of Blue Billion Hospitality in India in the form of a selected number of luxury boutique resorts. While some developers focus their attention on urban markets only, Navandar is more inclined to invest in destinations that are characterized by both beautiful landscapes and unique cultural opportunities, which can attract modern travelers.
In the next five years, the company plans to develop almost 1,000 rooms and prepare for IPOs using the reverse integration strategy. His vision of the future is based on his experience.
Before establishing Blue Billion Group, Navandar had previously worked at Crown Casino, a famous casino in Melbourne, during his time in Australia. Starting off as a bartender and rising up to become a manager of one of the busiest bars in the country, he understood that hospitality was not about luxury but about consistency, humility, and exceptional service.
These lessons were reiterated even further when he got an opportunity to work under the tutelage of two of India’s greatest business gurus, namely P.R.S. Oberoi and Sir Ratan Tata.
Watching how they conducted themselves left an indelible mark.
Both these leaders showed him that credibility takes years to build, trust can’t be expedited, and companies can have longevity only when their actions are driven by purpose.
This philosophy also shaped Blue Billion Group’s international strategy.
Rather than expand internationally just for the sake of growth, the company has been working towards building partnerships which will help improve its capabilities going forward. For instance, at BRICS Forum in St. Petersburg, Blue Billion entered into an exclusive strategic partnership agreement with Kaluga Distillery Crystal, thus increasing its international presence in India, Gulf, Southeast Asia, Australia, and other regions. Additionally, partnerships with Araiya Hotels & Resorts help create new luxury boutique resorts inspired by India’s rich culture.
Amongst his peers, Navandar has always been considered the “Passionate Maverick,” referring to his ability to take risks by questioning the norm and considering non-traditional options. To his friends, he has always been known as another nickname—”Baapji.”
Nothing about this title has anything to do with business.
It relates to mentorship, confidence, and willingness to lead others through their ups and downs.
As India begins to emerge as one of the biggest markets in the world in terms of tourism and consumerism, it is imperative for entrepreneurs to develop such businesses that generate economic values for themselves as well as make a social contribution.
This is exactly what Dr. Kishor Somnath Navandar aims to achieve now.
He does not want to limit himself to creating luxury resorts or successful businesses.
Navandar wants to create a legacy wherein entrepreneurship, leadership, and social service can never be separate from each other.
