‘I killed your father, now your turn’: Zeeshan Siddique receives death threat through voice note

New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Zeeshan Siddique reportedly received a death threat through a voice note on social media on Thursday, August 6. Zeeshan is the son of late NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Mumbai in October 2024.

According to media reports, gangster Zeeshan Akhtar allegedly sent the threatening message. Akhtar is believed to be based outside India. His last known location was reportedly traced to the United States.

Gangster issues threat

Zeeshan Akhtar is also an accused in the murder of Baba Siddique. Mumbai Police have named him in the chargesheet filed in connection with the case, according to reports. In the alleged voice note, Akhtar claimed responsibility for Baba Siddique’s murder and threatened to kill his son.

“I was the one who killed your father, and now it’s your turn. You keep interfering in everything I do. Run to the Crime Branch as much as you can. I have issued a fatwa against you. Increase your security. When your father was killed, you survived that time, but you won’t survive now.”

Police have reportedly started an investigation into the message. They are also trying to establish the sender’s identity and the location from where the voice note was sent.

Earlier threat over email

This was not the first time Zeeshan Siddique received a death threat. In April 2025, he reportedly received emails that threatened to kill him “just like your father” if he failed to pay Rs 10 crore.

Zeeshan had told reporters that the emails were sent to his personal account. He claimed that the sender identified himself as a member of D-Company, a criminal network linked to fugitive underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim.

The sender also allegedly warned Zeeshan against approaching the police. The authorities launched an investigation after the NCP leader reported the messages.

Baba Siddique’s murder

Baba Siddique was shot dead by three gunmen outside Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Dussehra in October 2024. The murder triggered a major investigation by Mumbai Police. Several people were arrested, while police continued their search for other accused, including Zeeshan Akhtar. Investigators have alleged that Akhtar played a role in planning and carrying out the attack.
