Education, jobs: CJP petition urges PM Modi to address youth concerns in Independence Day speech

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party on Friday launched an online petition urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak directly to young Indians during his Independence Day address.

The CJP asked Modi to present the government’s roadmap for tackling problems related to education, unemployment and the rising cost of living. Party founder and national convener Abhijeet Dipke shared the appeal on social media and urged people to sign the petition.

“This Independence Day, we want the Prime Minister to address India’s youth. We request the PM to explain what the government is doing for youth regarding education, unemployment and the cost of living,” Dipke said.

Nationwide unemployment campaign

The petition came a day after Dipke described unemployment as one of India’s biggest challenges. He said the CJP would turn the issue into a nationwide campaign. According to news agency PTI, Dipke made the remarks at a press conference in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after a two-day meeting of the organisation’s core team.

“Unemployment is a major problem. We will make it a nationwide issue.We will work on education reforms. Education has remained unaffordable since schooling. Education is used for making profits. But we want to change it,” Dipke had said.

Focus on education

Dipke said the CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi had attracted students and unemployed young people from across the country. The demonstrations centred on the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. He called the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as Union education minister the “biggest achievement” of the students’ agitation. Dipke said the movement showed the scale of concern among young people over education and employment.

CJP announces expansion

The CJP also announced its National Working Committee. It appointed Dipke as national convener. Chief spokesperson Saurav Das and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka were appointed co-conveners. The organisation plans to establish state, Lok Sabha constituency and city-level units over the next six months. It has also launched an online membership drive for students, young professionals and workers. The CJP said it had no immediate plans to contest elections. It would instead focus on grassroots mobilisation and campaigns related to education, employment and public institutions.
