Central government gave a bumper gift to farmers, big government procurement is going to start in these 4 states
New Delhi: A very big and relief news is coming from the Central Government for the food providers of the country. Modi government has taken a big decision to provide farmers the right price for their crops and save them from financial loss. The government has given green signal to bumper government procurement of pulses and oilseed crops in four big states of the country with the aim of providing direct benefits of Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the farmers. This entire purchase will be done under the government's 'Price Support Scheme' (PSS). The main objective of this step of the government is that even if the prices of crops fall in the open market, farmers can get full and fair price for their produce and they do not have to sell their hard work at throwaway prices.
Luck of farmers of these 4 states has improved, these crops will be sold in government markets Lakhs of farmers of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Tamil Nadu are going to directly benefit from this new and big decision of the Central Government. In these states, government procurement of important crops like moong, urad and groundnut will be done on a large scale. According to the Agriculture Minister of the country, this decision of the government will directly provide a huge economic boost to the farmers producing pulses (pulses) and oilseeds (oil crops) and their income will increase. Farmers of Uttar Pradesh hit the biggest jackpot, will get a gift of more than ₹ 1,490 crore It is expected that the farmers of Uttar Pradesh will get the biggest benefit from this entire scheme. Record breaking government procurement has been approved in UP for the summer 2026 season. Under this, about 48,298 metric tons of moong, about 97,970 metric tons of urad and about 41,718 metric tons of groundnuts will be purchased in the state. All these purchased in Uttar Pradesh The total MSP price of crops is estimated to be more than Rs 1,490 crore, which will directly reach the pockets of the farmers.
Tamil Nadu government also gave big relief, crop purchase limit increased
The Central Government has also opened a box of relief for the farmers of Tamil Nadu. The government procurement limit of moong has been significantly increased for the Rabi marketing season 2025-26 in the state. Whereas earlier permission was given to buy only 885 metric tonnes of moong, now it has been directly increased to 990 metric tonnes. This increase in the purchase limit will give many additional farmers of Tamil Nadu an opportunity to sell their crops at government prices.
Farmers of Gujarat and Haryana also got big relief, budget worth crores fixed
Pulses producing farmers of Gujarat and Haryana have also got a big relief from this decision. Approval has been given for the purchase of about 18,250 metric tonnes of moong for the summer 2026 season in Gujarat, the estimated MSP value of which is going to be more than Rs 160 crore. On the other hand, government procurement of about 2,115 metric tonnes of moong will be done from the farmers of Haryana, for which an amount of more than Rs 18 crore has been fixed by the government. Will get relief from the compulsion of selling crops at throwaway prices in the open market The biggest advantage of starting government procurement on MSP in the mandis will be that farmers will no longer have to fall prey to middlemen and be forced to sell their crops at cheaper prices. The main aim of the government is that the farmers of the country should get full and better value for their hard work so that their farming income can get a strong support. This commendable step of the Central Government is to promote the production of pulses and oil crops in the country. At the same time, it is being considered a game changer in the direction of providing complete protection to the farmers from market fluctuations.
