What is Royal Ascot?
Royal Ascot is Britain’s most prestigious horse racing event, which is held annually in June at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, England. It combines elite horse racing, royal tradition, high fashion, and celebrity appearances.
Its origins date back to 1711 when Queen Anne established a racecourse, and Ascot officially became “Royal” week in 1911 and has maintained close ties with the British monarchy ever since.
Spanning over five days, the event begins each day with the famous Royal Procession, where members of the British royal family arrive in horse-drawn carriages before the races begin. The event is traditionally attended by the monarch and senior royals, making it one of the most visible royal gatherings of the year.
Apart from Sara Ali Khan, Aishwarya Rai has also attended the event in the past. In fact, Aishwarya Rai was one of the earliest Bollywood stars to attend the event in 2013.
