Scene Box Office Collection Day 2: Suriya film grows to Rs 39.40 crore total but stays behind Karuppu’s two-day haul
New Delhi: Suriya’s Scene has edged up on its second day and taken its total past Rs 39 crore, yet it still trails the two-day haul of Karuppu. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the Tamil film is Suriya’s third release of 2026, following the successful Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons. The film opened to positive reviews and began with Rs 19.15 crore, which was better than the start of either of those films. Here is a closer look at how it performed on day 2.

Scene box office collection day 2
Scene earned Rs 20.25 crore on its second day. That is a modest rise of about 5.7 per cent over the opening figure, and it lifts the total collection to Rs 39.40 crore. Ramayana is the main rival at the box office, but Scene holds the upper hand in the Tamil market, where the dubbed version of Ramayana has barely made an impact.
Scene vs Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons
The two earlier hits give a clear yardstick. Karuppu collected Rs 24.15 crore in India on its second day and finished its first two days with Rs 39.65 crore. Vishwanath & Sons earned Rs 22.25 crore on day 2, and its two-day total was Rs 37.60 crore. That means Scene gets past Vishwanath & Sons but stays just behind Karuppu. Sunday’s numbers will show whether positive word of mouth can push the film further.
Suriya Karuppu lifetime collection
Karuppu is Suriya’s highest grosser, with Rs 310.12 crore in its lifetime, while Vishwanath & Sons ended at Rs 209.46 crore. Whether Scene can go past those totals is yet to be seen.
Scene story and cast
Suriya plays Inbaraaj, a cop known for his swagger and attitude. When he arrives, the inmates of the prison start behaving erratically, and he has to take on an investigation after his secret comes out. Nazriya Nazim returns to Tamil cinema after 12 years, and Naslen makes his Tamil debut with the film. Anandaraj, Lal, Rajpriyan, Suresh Mathiyalagan and Gajaraj also appear in it.
Jithu Madhavan wrote and directed Scene. It is produced by Suriya and Jyothika’s 2D Entertainment and the newly established Zhagaram Studios.
