New Rules from August 1: Here Are the Changes Coming into Effect

The month of August is approaching, bringing with it several major changes (new regulations effective August 1, 2026). A new KYC (Know Your Customer) system is set to be implemented. The West Central Railway has also announced amendments to the rules regarding Tatkal tickets. Additionally, SEBI is set to implement new regulations for open market share buybacks. Since these changes will directly impact the general public, it is important to be aware of them in advance.

LPG Cylinders prices changes

Oil marketing companies revise LPG cylinder prices every month; fluctuations in cylinder prices are likely on August 1st as well. On July 1st, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder was reduced by ₹183.50, and the price of a 5 kg cylinder was lowered by ₹13.

New KYC Regulations:

According to Reuters, banks and insurance companies are likely to jointly launch a comprehensive customer identification system called ‘Central KYC 2.0’ on August 1st. The implementation of this new system will transform banking and investment processes. Customers will no longer need to submit separate identity documents to every financial institution. Asset management companies and mutual funds may also join this network. When a customer opens a new account or updates their information, the institution can—with the customer’s consent—retrieve verified data from the central registry. This information will be sent to the user’s mobile number. The process concludes once approval is received.

Rules regarding railway ticket booking:

West Central Railway has announced changes to the Tatkal ticket booking process. A new token rule will come into effect on August 1. With the implementation of this new rule, passengers will no longer need to visit the railway reservation counter twice. Tokens for AC 1 Class will be issued between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, while tokens for non-AC classes will be distributed between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Currently, passengers booking Tatkal tickets for FC Class receive tokens between 9:00 AM and 9:25 AM, whereas those booking non-AC class tickets receive them between 9:30 AM and 9:55 AM.

ITR deadline ends

As the deadline for ITR filing ends on July 31, the citizens will have to pay penalty from August 1.
