iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Start October 16, Apple Plans Special Store Demos

Apple is preparing its stores for the arrival of the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone. The company introduced the device in global markets, including India, last month. Pre-orders will begin on October 16, while sales are scheduled to start on October 23.

Customers who plan to buy the phone on launch day might need to place their orders. Production delays are expected to affect supplies, which could make the phone difficult to find immediately after launch.

Apple Prepares Stores for iPhone Duo

Apple is planning an in-store display to let customers get a chance to use the iPhone Duo before they decide to buy it. As reported by Bloombergs Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter the company is sending more sample devices than normal, to its stores.

Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York will reportedly receive more than 150 units for demonstrations and displays. A separate section will also be set up to showcase the foldable phone.

The Apple Park Visitor Centre in Cupertino is expected to receive around 100 units. Stores in Chicago, Los Angeles and Manhattan will reportedly get between 30 and 40 devices each. Other Apple Stores are expected to receive around 20 units on average.

The number of demo phones available will therefore depend on the store customers visit.

Special Displays to Show Off the Folding Design

Apple is also preparing dedicated display areas called “The Avenue” along the sides of its stores. These spaces will allow visitors to take a closer look at the phone’s folding design.

Some flagship outlets will feature central display tables with custom fixtures to demonstrate how the device opens and closes.

The company is also planning special MagSafe stands that will hold an unfolded iPhone Duo alongside two regular iPhones. This arrangement will help shoppers compare screen sizes and explore the phone’s StandBy mode without the device being permanently fixed to the table.

The demonstrations will give customers an opportunity to handle the phone and see how its foldable design works in everyday use.

iPhone Duo Features and India Price

The iPhone Duo comes with a 7.6-inch main display that folds inward and a 5.4-inch cover screen for use when the phone is closed. It is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro processor and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of base storage.

The phone runs iOS 27 and features two 48-megapixel cameras on the rear.

In India, the iPhone Duo will go on sale on October 23, with a starting price of Rs 2,99,900. Pre-orders open on October 16. Given the expected shortage of launch units, buyers interested in the foldable phone may want to place their orders as soon as pre-orders begin.
