Apple’s Budget iPad May Be Delayed Until Early 2027

Apple’s next low-cost iPad could take longer to reach people. The release is reported to have been pushed to 2027. Apple is preparing a tablet that could bring better performance. Apple also plans to include support for Apple Intelligence. Apple hopes this will make the device a stronger option, for users who want an Apple device.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman as reported by MacRumors Apple is working on two models with the codenames J581 and J582. These devices are not going to come out until early next year. Apple has not yet officially said anything about the delay. Set a release date.

New iPad Could Feature A19 Chip

The new low-cost iPad is going to have improvements instead of a big change, in how it looks. Stories suggest Apple could put the A19 chip and 8GB of memory into the device. This would help the device meet the hardware needs, for Apple Intelligence features.

The current entry-level iPad uses Apple’s A16 chip. Does not support Apple Intelligence. Upgrading to a processor might make the device faster. It could also help with multitasking making it smoother. It would likely work better with AI tools that Apple may add in future versions of iPadOS. This would be an improvement, for everyday use.

Apple Intelligence support could also make the affordable iPad more useful for tasks, such as writing help and other software functions depending on how well it works and what is available. If you are looking for a budget iPad you might find Apple Intelligence useful. Still Apple Intelligence claims remain unconfirmed. Apple has not said which features the device will provide.

iPad Air And iPad Pro Upgrades Also Reported

Apple’s upgrade plans are not about the entry‑level iPad. Apple is also working on an update, for the iPad Air and Apple could add an OLED display to the iPad Air in 2027.

An OLED panel could improve contrast. Deliver deeper blacks compared with traditional LCD technology. However, the display upgrade remains part of the reports rather than an officially announced feature.

The next iPad Pro is also expected to get a processor. Stories say Apple might add a cooling system that uses a vapour chamber to keep things cool when the device is working hard. This could help people who use the tablet for jobs.

Meanwhile, a new iPad mini is reportedly still on track for a late October 2026 launch.

When Will The New Entry-Level iPad Launch?

Apple has not said when the next low-cost iPad will be announced or put on sale. Some stories say it might be out in 2027 but information about the features and cost is still not clear.

If the reported timeline holds, buyers looking for an updated entry-level iPad may have to wait several more months. The expected A19 chip and Apple Intelligence compatibility could be the main highlights, with performance improvements taking priority over a major redesign.
