Herbal Kumbh draws to a close in Uttarakhand

Haridwar: The three-day Herbal Kumbh – Herbal Agriculture Fair and Shri Dhanvantari Dham Mahotsav concluded at Malagaon in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district on November 6, with a pledge to promote Ayurveda, herbal agriculture and rural development globally.

At the closing ceremony, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev announced that Patanjali would form a special team to initiate legal action against those making derogatory remarks about Hindu deities, including Lord Ram, Krishna and Hanuman. He stressed that no religion or faith should be disrespected and called for protecting the purity of religious scriptures.

Acharya Balkrishna outlined plans to develop Shri Dhanvantari Dham into a major centre combining ancient Indian knowledge, modern science, Ayurveda, agriculture and nature. Proposed facilities include a knowledge centre, entertainment park, adventure sports facilities, meditation caves and cycling tracks. The Dham will also offer training programmes to participants from India and abroad.

Balkrishna said integrating agriculture with herbal cultivation was essential for sustainable development and described the Herbal Kumbh as a new initiative inspired by India’s cultural traditions.

More than 2,500 people participated in the three-day event, which brought together farmers, Ayurveda experts, saints and other stakeholders. Organisers announced that the next edition would be held in October next year on a larger scale.
