CJP leaders meet Rakesh Tikait, eyes farmers-students alliance against Centre

New Delhi: Days after ending their protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has reached out to farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, looking to form a joint group of farmers, students and youngsters. It expressed hope that all groups would surround the Modi Government from all sides.

The CJP was represented by its spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka and other members, while farmers were represented by Tikait and members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). Sharing details of the meeting, CJP said that the focus of the discussion was on future strategy to bring farmers, students and young people together.

CJP hopes to build strong coalition against Modi government

After the meeting, Ranka noted that CJP hoped to build a strong coalition against the Modi government. “We hope that our farmer brothers and the students and youth of this country will work together to surround the Modi government from all sides,” India Today quoted him as saying.

The CJP had earlier alleged that assurances made by the Centre and a few state governments during the recently concluded student protests were not implemented fully . The group noted that students continued be targeted in several states. It claimed that cases have been filed against protesting students in states like Bihar and West Bengal. FIRs were also filed in Rajasthan, it said further.

CJP approached Tikait to support their demand

The CJP earlier approached Tikait to support for their demand that cases against students be withdrawn by the authorities It had also warned that protests would be held again if their demands were not met.

Earlier, the CJP-led march on July 20 at Jantar Mantar led to clashes between protesters and security personnel. It is being alleged that security personnel used lathi charge and teargas shells to disperse the mob which was on its way to the Parliament. The protests gradually spread in other parts of the country.
