Jaipur: Married woman, lover kill Aunt to fund lavish lifestyle, arrested

New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, a 40-year-old woman and her lover were arrested for murdering the former’s Aunt. The woman is married and reportedly planned the crime to fund her lavish lifestyle, said the police. The accused wanted money for alcohol and for parties, said the officials. The victim was 65-year-old Kamala Devi, reported NDTV.

Woman dead, gold missing: Police

According to the Police, Kamala Devi was a resident of Sambhar in Jaipur. She was found dead at her home on July 30. Her family members said that gold and silver jewellery and cash was also missing from the house.

Following the death of the elderly woman, her son -in-law, Prakash Narayan Sharma filed a police complaint. The complaint was filed against unidentified persons and it was said that the accused first killed the woman and then robbed the house.

Following the complaint, the police launched a probe. They used technical surveillance and also analysed CCTV footage from the area around the home. They zeroed in on a suspect, Lalitha who was the deceased woman’s niece. Lalita was detained for questioning.

Under intense questioning, Lalita succumbed and confessed to her involvement in the murder. The woman is a resident of Jaipur’s Kuchaman. Following her statement, the police also arrested her accomplice, 26-year-old Bablu Meena. He is allegedly her boyfriend and hails from Sikar.

The 2 accused had reportedly conducted a recce of the house, before entering it at night. During their interrogation the duo confessed that they had committed the robbery and killed the elderly woman, in order to fund their lavish lifestyle.

The police managed to recover gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh, cash stolen from the house, an ATM card and also an Aadhar Card from the 2 accused. The jewellery recovered from them included, two gold bangles, gold stud earrings, a nose pin, silver anklets, silver coins, toe rings, and silver scrap.
