Jay-Z to headline Super Bowl 2027 halftime show, will Beyoncé join him on stage?
New Delhi: Rapper Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, marking his first performance at the NFL championship game. The announcement was made by the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation.

The 25-time Grammy Award winner has played a key role in shaping the Super Bowl’s musical performances through his entertainment company, Roc Nation, which has partnered with the NFL to produce the halftime show since 2019. However, the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has never performed at the event himself.
The announcement marks a new chapter in Jay-Z’s longstanding association with the sporting spectacle, which attracts a massive television audience in the United States and viewers worldwide.
Jay-Z calls Super Bowl performance a dream come true
Reacting to the announcement, Jay-Z described the opportunity as a milestone in his three-decade musical journey.
“From ‘Reasonable Doubt’ to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” he said. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
The announcement comes after the rapper performed two shows at SoFi Stadium on October 23 and 24 as part of celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. The concerts featured appearances by several artists, including Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, John Legend and DJ Khaled.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also expressed excitement about Jay-Z taking the stage after years of helping shape the event.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said.
He added that he was looking forward to fans experiencing the rapper’s artistry, creativity and cultural impact at the Super Bowl.
Beyonce among possible guest performers
Jay-Z’s announcement has also sparked speculation about which artists could join him during the halftime show. His wife, global pop star Beyoncé, is likely to attract attention among potential guest performers, although no special guests have been confirmed.
Beyoncé headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 and returned as a guest performer during Coldplay’s set in 2016.
Over the years, the event has featured performances by several major music stars, including Rihanna, Usher, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Jay-Z’s appearance will add another milestone to the show’s history, bringing the rapper from behind the scenes to the centre of one of the biggest stages in entertainment.
Jay-Z’s career achievements include 25 Grammy Awards, becoming the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
