World Animation Day: When Art Learns to Move

Animation has grown from hand drawn sketches to complex digital worlds made with powerful software and visual effects. On October 28 World Animation Day marks this journey and honours Animation as both an art and a strong tool for communication.

Animation is, at its core about turning pictures into motion. Animation is about making static images appear to move.

We see that Animation does more, than just entertain. Animated films, TV shows, commercials learning videos and video games use motion, colour and story to share ideas that’re hard to explain with words alone. Animation helps us understand concepts that’re difficult to describe by words alone.

The celebration also shows how creative artists are, animators are designers are, writers are and technicians are who work in the background to make ideas into things people can see. From fashioned 2D animation to 3D pictures from stop-motion to computer-made images the area keeps changing because of new technology.

Now animation is also linked with technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual reality and real-time pictures. These tools are changing how people make characters, settings and visual stories. They are creating new chances for trying new things.

World Animation Day is therefore not, about cartoons. It is a reminder that animation can teach, share information amuse and bring people together across languages and cultures-showing that sometimes moving pictures can say what words can’t.
