WATCH: Shubman Gill’s stumps rattled as he gets dismissed on 1 in Ranji Trophy ahead of NZ tour

New Delhi: India’s Test skipper Shubman Gill endured a disappointing outing for Punjab in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2026-27 on Sunday, October 18. Playing his first Ranji game of the season for his state team, Gill was dismissed cheaply on 1 as he got cleaned up by a ripper from left-arm spinner Ajay Mandal.

Gill skipped Punjab’s Ranji Trophy opener against Assam but returned to take part in their second Group B clash against Chhattisgarh at the PCA International Stadium in Mohali. The Indian Test captain walked out to bat at no.4 and was dismissed on 1 off five deliveries.

Gill walked out to bat after the dismissal of Vihaan Malhotra in the 26th over of Punjab’s innings. He was clean bowled by Mandal on the third delivery of the 27th over. The ball dipped inside, breaching Gill’s defence to rattle his stumps as the Indian skipper’s first Ranji outing of the season ended in 5 balls.
