UP Panchayat elected, lakhs of names will be removed from voter list, see new rule

The excitement regarding the three-tier Panchayat elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh has intensified. Meanwhile, the administration has made its stand very strict regarding the voter list. In fact, after the release of the final voter list, complaints of huge irregularities were coming to light from many districts of the state. Taking immediate action on this, top officials have given strict instructions to re-examine the list closely and immediately correct all the mistakes. Taking the example of Gonda district, the District Magistrate took charge as soon as complaints of rigging in the voter list were received. He has bluntly told all the tehsil level officers that any kind of negligence in the list will not be tolerated and every mistake should be corrected immediately. The administration clearly says that their first priority is to prepare a completely clean and error-free voter list before the election campaign.

This time there has been a big change in the voter list The figures of the final voter list released by the State Election Commission for the Panchayat elections 2026 are surprising. This time the list includes the names of a total of 12.58 crore voters. This time the entire face of the voter list has changed compared to last time. Under the voter list revision campaign, names of about 2.32 crore new voters have been added, while names of 2.03 crore people have been removed from the list. Overall, this time there has been an increase of 29.01 lakh new voters. Those whose names have been removed include people who have left the world, citizens who have shifted to other places and names which have been registered fraudulently.

After all, on which complaints did the administration get angry and how will the action be taken? As soon as the final list came, the Commission received many serious complaints from different corners of the state. Started reaching near. People are complaining that the name of the same person is registered at two or three different places. Not only this, the names of people who are no longer in this world are also appearing in the voter list. The names of women who have gone to their in-laws' house after marriage are still in the list of their maternal home i.e. old villages. The biggest mistake is that names of people from other gram panchayats have also been wrongly included for political gains. Now the administration has made it clear that the names will be removed only after thorough investigation on these complaints and for this the necessary documents and applications will be cross-checked.

This powerful 'hi-tech weapon' came to stop fake voting

This time the Panchayat elections are going to be very special and transparent because the administration is preparing to lay the biggest net of technology against fake voting. For the first time in history, a special 'State Voter Number' (SVN) is being issued to all the Panchayat voters of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the help of 'Face Recognition System' (FRS) i.e. face recognition technology will be taken to root out fraud and rigging at polling booths. Due to this, no bogus voter will be able to cast the vote of others at the time of voting.

Strict warning to officials, if they are negligent they will be punished At present, the entire focus of the State Election Commission and the District Administration is on only one thing, that the voter list should become milk and water before the election dates. The officers deployed on the ground have been given a clear warning that if even the slightest laxity or negligence is found in the disposal of complaints, then their responsibility will be directly fixed and action will be taken. Now the biggest task just before the elections is this voter list. It has to be freed from every dispute so that elections can be conducted in a fair manner in UP.
