‘Don’t play with the future of students…’ Company bows to government’s argument in Telegram ban case, petition stalled
A very big and surprising news is coming for crores of users using Telegram in India. The ban on Telegram will continue completely in the country till June 22. Delhi High Court has absolutely justified the Central Government's order to ban Telegram. Along with this, the court has completely rejected the petition filed by Telegram against this ban. The High Court said in clear words that the Central Government had not issued this order without thinking. While giving its verdict on this sensitive matter, Delhi High Court has given the biggest blow to the Telegram company till date.
Telegram got a big blow from Delhi High Court
A detailed hearing was held on Thursday in the Delhi High Court on the petition challenging the temporary ban imposed by the Central Government on the Telegram app, after which the court had reserved its decision. Let us tell you that the government has banned this platform due to concerns and apprehensions of leaking of NEET re-exam papers to be held on June 21. There was a vigorous and heated debate between the two parties in the Delhi High Court to lift this ban, where the country's Solicitor General Tushar Mehta strongly presented the side of the Central Government.
Solicitor General revealed the secret feature of Telegram in the court
During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made a very serious appeal to the court and said that please take special care of the public interest of the country and the students in this matter. We cannot ignore the future and feelings of millions of students at all. While revealing a dangerous loophole of Telegram, he told the court that the Telegram app It has a special feature to change the date and time of any message or post. Giving an example, Tushar Mehta explained that suppose if the exam paper to be held on June 21 gets leaked and reaches everyone, then any vicious person can post it on Telegram on June 22. After this, he can use the app's feature to backdate the date and time to show that it was uploaded on June 18 itself. He told that something similar was seen during the examination of year 2024 also. For this reason, the government has already taken appropriate steps this time and has taken such measures so that the common people face minimal trouble or interference.
Why was Telegram banned in India? Know the real reason behind this Keeping in view the sensitivity of NEET Re-exam to be held across the country on June 21, the Central Government has imposed this strict ban on the Telegram platform till June 22. However, highly placed sources associated with the government have clarified that this is not a permanent 'blanket ban' (complete ban) on Telegram. This is only a temporary step taken to stop rumors of fake paper leaks, online cheating and disinformation spreading across the country during the examination period. Delhi High Court clearly refused to lift the ban on Telegram till June 22. The court also refused to accept the company's argument in which Telegram had said that it was not given prior information about this order. The court has completely upheld this 5-day short-term ban of the government.
From cyber crime to terrorism: Government submitted scary figures in court
Central government temporarily bans Telegram just before NEET-UG exam Strongly defended its big decision of banning. The government argued in the Delhi High Court that this messaging application is being used extensively for very dangerous and illegal activities ranging from cyber crime and financial fraud to terrorism and rampant circulation of leaked question papers. Citing a highly confidential report of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), the government said in its affidavit that this app has become the most preferred and safe platform for cyber criminals these days. Criminals take help of fake accounts, anonymous IDs, private channels and large groups on Telegram to carry out anti-national and illegal activities. These activities include committing financial fraud on innocent people of the country, spreading dangerous viruses, breaking into sensitive data and selling leaked question papers of government exams with impunity.
