‘You want to protect infiltrators’ votes’: Amit Shah attacks Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday attacked Rahul Gandhi over his “vote chori’ remarks and also allegations of a “collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission”. He alleged that the Congress party was just using such allegations as excuses to explain its own electoral defeats.

Shah was speaking at an event in Delhi where he launched several projects worth Rs 8,941 crore to clean the Yamuna river. This was also his birthday, reported the Times of India.
Apart from attacking Gandhi, the Union Home Minister also hit out at the previous Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government and the current AAP government in Punjab. He criticised the governance model followed by the party in both these states.
‘BJP’s election wins, make Opposition question EC’: Shah
Shah was quoted as saying, “The BJP keeps winning elections and the Opposition is troubled by it. That’s why they have come up with the excuse of “vote chori” or “vote theft.”
He further said that Rahul Gandhi kept talking about “vote theft” because he wanted to protect the votes of “infiltrators”.
Talking about election wins of the BJP, he said that the party had been winning elections in several states, even before PM Narendra Modi took over the reigns at the Centre. He added that the Congress Party meanwhile had remained out of power in many states for decades.
He questioned whether the Congress Party’s electoral setbacks had begun only after Narendra Modi became the PM of the country?
Shah also attacked Gandhi for his foreign trips. He said, “When I say that the BJP will be in power for 30 years, they accuse us of stealing votes. They ask how Amit Shah knows the election results in advance. Amit Shah was born here, lives here and will die here. I do not have to travel abroad every 6 months. I live among the people of this country.”
Attacking the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shah said, “When court rulings favour you, you call them fair. But when they go against you, you question them. These double standards won’t work, Rahul ji.”
Criticising Rahul Gandhi’s participation in protests in Delhi, Shah said that he cannot overturn the people’s mandate, using mob pressure and “political manoeuvres.”. He advised Gandhi that winning elections was not about staging sit-ins and protests.
