BJP targets Congress over Fox News report alleging link between protests in India and France
New Delhi: The BJP on Thursday attacked Congress over a Fox News Digital report that alleged connections between unrest in France and protests against the Chief Election Commissioner in India. The party claimed the report exposed an “anarchy and regime change plot” involving Congress.

The report claimed to have identified 101 organisations across 13 countries that allegedly coordinated, organised or amplified protests. It drew links between unrest in France and youth-led demonstrations in India and other countries. Congress did not immediately respond to the BJP’s allegations.
Bhatia attacks Rahul
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia cited the report to accuse Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of promoting anarchy and acting under foreign influence. “It is India’s misfortune that the leader of opposition is irresponsible and immature. And if I present the evidence before you, it would not be wrong to call him a traitor or Mir Jafar.”
Bhatia alleged that organisations across several countries had built a network to destabilise elected governments. “An investigation by Fox News shows how organisations have created an ecosystem across nine countries, including France, that attempts to overthrow elected governments. It is a ‘red-green ecosystem of protest’,” he claimed.
Report alleges coordination
The Fox News Digital investigation alleged that organisations shared messages and helped amplify demonstrations across national borders. Bhatia said the report associated communist groups with “red” and Islamic groups with “green”. While the report described a network across 13 countries, Bhatia referred to nine countries during his remarks. The allegations against Congress came from BJP spokespersons who cited the report.
Bhandari seeks answers
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also cited the investigation in a post on X. “Global investigation exposes anarchy and regime change plot of Congress.”
He said the report alleged that Progressive International coordinated common messaging between protests in France, Albania and India. “The aim of the messaging was ‘acquiring organised power through new rebellion’, regime change,” he added, referring to the report.
Bhandari further alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi met Progressive International representatives at “10 Janpath” on April 10, 2025. “This further proves Rahul Gandhi and Congress are in the remote control of foreign anti-democratic forces,” he alleged.
He demanded that Congress disclose whether it coordinated with Progressive International during the protests.
