Apple May Have Another October Launch Event

Apple may not be finished with its October product announcements just yet. After introducing a fresh set of smart home products, the company is reportedly preparing another hardware-focused event that could bring new Macs and an upgraded iPad mini.

The latest reports suggest Apple could hold a product event in Los Angeles on October 28. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reportedly said the company is inviting select members of the media for the event. Apple may showcase its upcoming Macs and an OLED version of the iPad mini.

Gurman had previously reported that Apple’s announcements could begin on October 27. Rather than hosting a conventional livestream, the company is expected to give invited media members an opportunity to get hands-on with the new products.

OLED MacBook Pro could be the biggest reveal

One of the most significant products reportedly in development is Apple’s first MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen. The redesigned laptop has been the subject of several reports and could represent one of the biggest changes to the MacBook Pro lineup in years.

Apple has traditionally kept touch input away from its Mac computers, relying instead on the keyboard and trackpad. The reported OLED MacBook Pro could change that approach, with touch support expected to work alongside the existing input methods rather than replace them.

The laptop is also expected to move away from the current mini-LED display in favour of OLED technology. This could result in deeper blacks and stronger contrast. Apple is reportedly working on a slimmer and lighter design for the 14-inch and 16-inch models.

However, the reported OLED MacBook Pro may not arrive with the upcoming M6 Pro and M6 Max chips. Instead, reports suggest Apple could use M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. The new models could also carry a higher price because of the redesigned display and thinner form factor.

iMac and other Macs could get upgrades

Apple’s reported Mac announcements may extend beyond the MacBook Pro. A 24-inch iMac powered by the M6 chip could also be introduced, potentially with additional colour choices. A refreshed Mac Studio has also appeared in reports surrounding Apple’s upcoming hardware plans.

OLED iPad mini could join the lineup

The iPad lineup could also receive an update. Apple is reportedly working on an OLED iPad mini featuring an A20 Pro chip. Other expected changes include a landscape-oriented front camera, redesigned speakers and a more water-resistant body.

For now, however, these details remain unconfirmed. Apple has not officially announced the reported event or confirmed the products mentioned in these reports. As a result, readers should treat the information as speculation until Apple makes its plans official.
