Traffic curbs during Prez visit
Brahmapur: In view of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Brahmapur and Taptapani on August 4 and 5, the district police have announced special traffic regulations to ensure security and smooth movement of the VVIP convoy. On August 4, heavy vehicles will not be allowed between Andhapasara Chowk and First Gate from 10 am to 11.45 am, while light vehicles, including cars and auto-rickshaws, will remain prohibited from 10.30 am to 11.45 am. School buses and other light vehicles have been advised to use the Lanjipalli Bypass. Two-wheelers will also be restricted between Andhapasara Chowk and Haridakhandi Chowk from 10.45 am.

During the evening, heavy and light vehicles will not be permitted between First Gate and Haldiapadar from 3 pm to 5.30 pm, while two-wheelers will be stopped from Haridakhandi Chowk towards Haldiapadar from 4 pm. Heavy vehicles on NH-16 from Haldiapadar towards Chhatrapur will also remain restricted between 4 pm and 5.30 pm.
On August 5, heavy vehicles will not be allowed on NH-16 between Gopalpur Junction and Golanthara from 9 am to 10.30 am. Restrictions on light vehicles will remain in force from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, while two-wheelers will not be allowed from 9.45 am to 10.30 am.
The police clarified that ambulances, fire services and other emergency vehicles will be exempted from these restrictions. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, use alternative routes wherever possible, and extend full cooperation to the traffic police for smooth traffic management during the President’s visit.
Thirty platoons of police force would be deployed to maintain law and order during the visit of the President to Brahmapur, said SP Saravana Vivek M.
