Supreme Court-appointed panel launches portal for complaints on July 2026 Jantar Mantar violence

New Delhi: The Supreme Court-appointed High Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC), set up to investigate the violence that unfolded at Jantar Mantar and other locations outside Delhi in July 2026, has launched an online portal to receive complaints and representations from the public and affected personnel.

The digital platform has been established to make the submission process seamless for affected citizens as well as injured police personnel. The committee will examine all matters highlighted under paragraphs 12 and 13 of the Supreme Court’s order dated 18 August 2026, alongside paragraph 5(i) of its 10 September 2026 directive.

According to official details released on Saturday, the enquiry will place particular focus on allegations involving the deployment of pellet guns, targeted violence and harassment directed at female demonstrators, and incidents of extreme violence or property destruction committed by either side.

Built-in safeguards for witness confidentiality

To encourage transparent reporting without fear of reprisal, the portal has been structured with safeguards to protect vulnerable witnesses. Affected individuals who come forward can opt to keep their identities completely confidential and undisclosed throughout the proceedings.

Stakeholders, victims, and eye-witnesses have been urged to log onto the portal and submit their formal representations or grievances using the designated online formats. In addition to formal complaints, any person wishing to provide relevant suggestions or background information related to the Supreme Court’s directives can do so platform.
