While Street Fighter led the box-office charts, You Can See Everything became one of the weekend’s biggest talking points. The documentary, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, collected an estimated USD 15 million in North America from just 855 screens.

The film examines the life of Elizabeth Holmes, the former Theranos founder convicted of fraud, focusing on the period before she reported to federal prison. Filmed in secret over three years, the nearly three-hour documentary offers an unusual look at Holmes and her family during the final days before her imprisonment.

According to distributor A24, the film recorded more than 2,000 sold-out screenings over the weekend. Its opening also marked the biggest debut for a non-music documentary in two decades, following the success of Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004. The documentary has also received strong reviews, helping it attract audiences beyond its limited release.

‘Whalefall’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility’ join box-office race

Other releases had a comparatively quieter weekend. Disney’s survival thriller Whalefall, starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin, earned around USD 8 million domestically and USD 17.5 million worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility opened with an estimated USD 7.3 million in North America.

Overall, the weekend highlighted the varied interests of moviegoers, with a major video game adaptation leading the charts and a documentary finding an unexpectedly large audience in theatres.
