Stephen Fleming takes charge as England men’s Test coach with Joe Root returning as captain

New Delhi: Stephen Fleming has been officially appointed England men’s new Test head coach, with Joe Root returning as full-time captain after stepping down from the role in 2022. Fleming left his longstanding role with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) earlier this month and has signed a four-year contract with the ECB that will keep him in the role until the end of September 2030.

The former New Zealand captain is well acquainted with English cricket, having played for Middlesex, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. He also captained Nottinghamshire to a Championship title in 2005, and coached Southern Brave in The Hundred.
