Raj sanctions Rs 2.18L cr in PMMY loans; 60% to women

Jaipur: Rajasthan has approved loans worth over Rs 2.18 lakh crore to more than 2.55 crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), with women accounting for around 60 per cent of the total beneficiaries, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

The scheme has played a key role in providing institutional finance to small businesses, including micro manufacturing units, street vendors and other non-corporate enterprises, the statement said.

As per the data, loans amounting to Rs Rs 2,18,423 crore have been sanctioned to 2,55,91,381 beneficiaries in the state. Of these, more than 1.54 crore women have availed loans worth more than Rs 67,982 crore. In the financial year 2025-26 alone, more than 23.74 lakh beneficiaries were extended loans worth Rs 31,460 crore in Rajasthan.

The statement said the scheme has significantly reduced dependence on informal sources of credit such as moneylenders by ensuring access to institutional financing for economically weaker sections.

Citing a reply by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in the Lok Sabha, it said that across the country, more than 59.14 crore beneficiaries have been sanctioned loans exceeding Rs 41.71 lakh crore under the scheme till June 2026.

Launched in 2015, the PMMY provides collateral-free loans of up to Rs 20 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm small and micro enterprises.

The scheme has emerged as a major support system for small entrepreneurs including shopkeepers, transport operators, artisans, food service units and street vendors, helping promote self-employment and financial inclusion, the statement added.
