Nayyi Navelli Twitter review: ‘Paisa vasool’ or ‘major misfire’? Yami Gautam film divides audiences
New Delhi: Actor Yami Gautam’s fantasy horror-comedy, Nayyi Navelli, has finally hit the theatres on Friday (October 16), and it has opened to mixed reviews from audiences. While moviegoers have praised Yami Gautam’s performances, many criticised its overstretched climax, poor screenplay, and excessive characters.

However, its storyline and connection with mythology have received appreciation from audiences. Directed by Balaji Mohan, the film is a family entertainer with elements of mythology, horror and comedy.
Now, let’s explore what netizens are saying about the movie.

Another shared, “A Rare Combination Of Mythology And Family Comedy With Loads Of Action And Entertainment Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 THINK BIG, is what they said in the teaser, and well; the film actually does go BIG. Trust me, it’s way beyond what even the trailer had suggested that had Yami Gautam (as the friendly daayan) take on Raavan no less.”
“#NayyiNavelli looks like a major misfire from @aanandlrai @AMZMGMstudiosIN and @colouryellow_in Even an actor like @yamigautam looks completely out of depth trying to balance horror & comedy. The performance feels forced, and her look fails to salvage a heavily dated script. Coming Oct 16, a weak opening is heavily on the cards,” wrote another.
#NayyiNavelliReview: ⭐🌟
#NayyiNavelli is a major misfire.
What was supposed to be a quirky horror-comedy about a new bride suspected of being a dayan ends up as a dull, stretched, and confused film. The setup had some promise, but the writing never capitalises on it. The film keeps circling the same “is she or isn’t she” idea without building proper tension, scares, or laughs.
Yami Gautam tries hard, but she looks completely out of place trying to balance the horror and comedy tones. Her performance feels forced, and the character never becomes interesting enough to hold the film. Supporting cast mostly overacts, and the comedy track falls flat almost throughout.
The second half dumps heavy Ramayana and mythology elements that feel preachy rather than entertaining. At 2 hours 18 minutes, the runtime becomes a real problem. Direction is flat, VFX are average, and the film never finds a consistent tone.
Overall, Nayyi Navelli is a tedious watch that wastes a decent concept and a capable lead actress. Weak opening and poor word-of-mouth look inevitable.

“#NayyiNavelliReview: PAISA VASOOL RATING: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫 Producer #AanandLRai continues to back stories that dare to be different and dazzling. And #NayyiNavelli is a terrific addition to the list that boasts off sterling names like #Mukkabaaz and #Tumbbad. The concept is fresh & unique, and all the actors pull off the madcap comedy with amazing abandon,” wrote one person.

#YamiGautam delivers an exhilarating performance. Action, comedy, dance, swag and a touch of emotions… the gifted actor goes through the gamut with effortless eaee.
#AnuragThakur and #AddinathKothare will have more takers for their talent after their delightful performances.
Director #BalajiMohan deserves credit for attempting a fantasy family entertainer that doesn’t feel saddled by stereotypes.
The climax, in particular, leaves you completely spellbound.
#GVPrakash’s score deserves kudos, particularly The World of Nayyi Navelli theme, which accentuates the film’s distinctive atmosphere.
On the whole, it’s an enjoyable joyride… Families must hitch on to it during this #Dussehra season.
