‘Modi kahi nahi jaayega’: BJP takes swipe at INDIA bloc ahead of November 1 rally
New Delhi: The BJP on Monday took a swipe at the opposition ahead of the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally in Delhi, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would remain in office despite the opposition’s campaign against him. The party’s post on X came amid a political row over Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark about Modi and growing calls from traders to postpone the rally until after Diwali.

“Sorry to break it to you, all anti-Indian forces, BUT Modi kahi nahi jayega (Modi won’t go anywhere),” the BJP wrote on its official X account. The post appeared to target the opposition following Kharge’s remark, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega.”

The INDIA bloc is planning a major gathering at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 to intensify its campaign against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The opposition is also demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Delhi traders urge Congress to postpone rally
The planned rally has drawn opposition from traders, who fear that security arrangements, road closures and traffic diversions could affect business during the festive shopping season. Traders protested at Kashmere Gate on Monday, asking Congress to hold the event after Diwali.
During the demonstration, they raised the slogan, “20,000 vaipariyo ki ik hi pukar, Diwali ke baad kijiye rally ka vichar”, urging the party to consider the impact on businesses.
Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) chairman Brijesh Goyal said the organisation would write to leaders of all INDIA bloc parties along with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, requesting them to defer the rally.
Goyal expressed concern over reports that around 10 lakh people could attend the event, arguing that Ramlila Maidan has a capacity of approximately 50,000. He also claimed that protests on October 10 had resulted in metro station closures, barricading and restrictions, affecting more than 20 markets.
According to Goyal, a rally of the proposed scale could disrupt business in wholesale hubs within a 5-km radius of Ramlila Maidan including Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Khari Baoli and Kashmere Gate. He warned that road restrictions could prevent buyers from Delhi and other states from reaching the markets.
Rahul Gandhi responds to traders’ concerns
Rahul Gandhi responded to the traders on X on Monday, saying the protests would “stop in 30 seconds” if they asked Modi to remove Gyanesh Kumar over the alleged “vote chori” issue.
Paramjeet Singh Pamma, president of the Sadar Bazar Bari Market Trade Association, also appealed to Congress leaders to postpone the rally. He said the festive season was crucial for traders to recover their earnings and warned that restrictions around major wholesale markets could cause losses worth crores of rupees.
Traders have urged the Congress to reschedule the event until after Diwali to avoid disrupting business during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.
