Mamata Banerjee Slapped A Member Of TMC Amid Ongoing Protest In West Bengal

Mamata Banerjee slapped a worker of her own party on Friday amid the ongoing protest. The way of holding and leading the protest from the front is seen as a return to her iconic streetfighter personality. The incident occurred on Wednesday, when members of the Trinamool Congress marched in a rally for the tragic incident of the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Baruipur.

However, BJP workers are allegedly said to have blocked and tried to halt the protest held from the side of TMC. The BJP workers even started chanting targeting TMC as “chor, chor (thief)”, and formed a human barrier to prevent the rally from moving forward.

Tension escalated as workers from both parties frequently shoved, pushed, and jostled each other during the procession. As a result, security personnel were compelled to step in and use a baton charge.

As the protests came to an end, a sizable crowd assembled outside Mamata Banerjee’s residence. She slapped the man, who was also in her party, as she moved forward to disperse the group. She also pushed and shoved people around.

The BJP workers, however, protested against the rally, claiming the party had no right since the party “shielded criminals perpetrating crimes against women, shamed victims.”

In the meantime, the verbal spat continues as Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP and its action as a “planned rampage” and accused them of it. Additionally, she charged that the city police were “mute spectators.”
