82% of roads in Bengaluru North Corporation limits in good condition: AI Survey
Bengaluru: An AI-based survey of road conditions across seven divisions and 72 wards under the Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has found that 82.1% of the 2,493.5 km of roads surveyed are in good to satisfactory condition.

The survey, conducted using artificial intelligence-based technology, identified 14,393 potholes across the 2,493.5 km road network, averaging 5.8 potholes per kilometre. The survey also assessed damage to road surfaces caused by utility works carried out by various departments. Road images captured in real time through dashcams were analysed to identify the condition of road surfaces, locations of potholes, areas requiring repairs and damage caused by utility works. Of the total road length surveyed, 1,426.8 km was found to be in good condition, while minor defects were identified on the surface of another 607.1 km. Together, these roads account for 82.1% of the total surveyed network. The remaining 17.9% of roads were found to have localised damage, damage caused by utility works and issues relating to unpaved roads.
The survey also documented damage caused to roads during utility works undertaken by agencies including the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM).
The corporation said such roads would be considered for development under future road improvement projects, based on requirements, with the objective of providing better and safer road connectivity to the public.
