‘Maha Devi Adishakti’ FL unveiled; set to release in Feb 2027

The first look of Maha Devi Adishakti- The Legend of Maa Durga, an upcoming animated film that narrates India’s spiritual and cultural legacy, was unveiled on Navratri. The film, directed by Milind Nandanwar and written by acclaimed writer Akshat Gupta, is slated to release globally in February 2027.

Produced by Gaurav Malhotra of Artha Entertainment and Animation, the film features music by Shreyas Puranik and narrates the tales of the various avatars of the Divine Mother, including Mahishasuramardini who defeated the demon king Mahishasura and Goddess Kali who embodies power and the destruction of evil.

The film’s creators hope that by using animation, they will be able to reach out to the next generation and educate them about India’s ancient mythological tales and spiritual traditions. Milind Nandanwar, the director of the film, said the project was a privilege and an opportunity for them, as the message of Dharma and good triumphing over evil is universal.

Malhotra added that the film is a family-friendly endeavor that aims to bridge generational gaps and enable grandparents, parents, and children to experience the same joy and devotion. The film’s animation, which requires painstaking hand-drawn work, is noteworthy in an era when artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the entertainment industry. Over 150 animators worked on the film, which showcases India’s ancient mythology, music, and animation. In summary, Maha Devi Adishakti is a mythical tale that brings together mythology, music, and animation to recreate India’s cultural and spiritual legacy on the modern cinematic landscape while celebrating the artistry of its creators.
