Karnataka monsoon intensifies: Rain forecast across state till August 13, Bengaluru sees heavy downpour
New Delhi: The monsoon, which was expected to bring significant rainfall in July, has intensified across Karnataka in August. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts across the coastal, north interior and south interior regions are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall until August 13.
Where will it rain and when?
In Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, light rain is likely at several places on August 10 and 11. On August 12 and 13, most parts of these three coastal districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
Rain forecast for north interior Karnataka
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at one or two places in Belagavi, Gadag, Dharwad and Haveri districts from August 10 to 13.
Light rainfall is also likely in Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir during the same period.
South interior Karnataka also likely to receive rain
Several districts in south interior Karnataka are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall between August 10 and 13.

Bengaluru hit by sudden heavy rain
Meanwhile, several parts of Bengaluru witnessed heavy rain on Sunday evening, catching residents off guard.
The sudden downpour disrupted weekend plans and affected traffic movement across several parts of the city.
Heavy rain was reported from areas including Majestic, KR Market and Malleshwaram, while the Whitefield area, part of Bengaluru’s prominent IT corridor, also experienced intense rainfall.
The sudden spell of rain led to traffic disruptions in several areas, with commuters facing difficulties on the roads.
With monsoon activity expected to remain active over the next few days, residents across Karnataka are likely to experience intermittent rainfall through August 13.
