Janhvi Kapoor turns Sridevi’s Nagina poster and Amrish Puri scene into Halloween tribute with Orry’s help

New Delhi: Janhvi Kapoor spent Halloween paying tribute to her mother. On October 31, the actor shared pictures of herself dressed as Nagina, the role that Sridevi made unforgettable in 1986.

Janhvi copied the original look closely. She wore the pink outfit, the jewellery, the make-up and the hairstyle seen in the film. Orry helped her restage three moments from Nagina: the film’s poster, a behind-the-scenes scene with Amrish Puri and one more sequence from the movie.

Sharing the pictures, Janhvi wrote, “Happy Halloweeeeeny 👻 had to recreate one of the most iconic movie moments everrrrr 🐍🤍✨

So much of Halloween has become about dressing up as your favourite characters and pop culture moments. Sometimes they’re spooky, sometimes they’re funny, and sometimes it’s a tribute ❤️

And who could be more iconic than Mumma, Rishi uncle and Amrish sir!! 🥹🤍Got a little help from 🤫😉💄 for the lewk.”

About Nagina movie

In this revenge drama, Sridevi played an icchadhaari nagin, a snake that can take any form it wishes. Her performance drew praise, and according to an IMDB list, the film became the second highest grosser of its year. Nagina is also described as the first Indian film to get a sequel, Nigahein, although that follow-up did not do well at the box office. The 1986 release took Sridevi to superstardom and made her the most bankable female star in the industry.

Remembering Sridevi

Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, in Dubai, where she had gone to attend a family wedding. She was 54. Her death was caused by accidental drowning, and it left her family, the film industry and millions of fans in deep shock. The loss came only months before Janhvi’s much-awaited Bollywood debut in Dhadak, which released in July that year.

Janhvi on Koffee with Karan

Recently, Janhvi appeared in Koffee with Karan season 9. She spoke there about the Peddi controversy. The actress said she should have been more assertive in voicing her discomfort with the sexualisation and problematic portrayal of her character.
