Illegal firecracker consignment seized in Delhi, three held
New Delhi: Three people, including two women, have been apprehended for allegedly supplying illegal firecrackers in northeast Delhi, with police recovering 98 kg of firecrackers and a car used to transport them, an official said on Monday.

The accused were intercepted by a police team in the Nand Nagri area on October 17 following a tip-off about a consignment of illegal firecrackers being transported in a car, he said.
The team was checking vehicles around 8.40 pm when an informer alerted them to the arrival of the consignment. Acting on the information, the police intercepted a white car carrying two women and a man.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a large quantity of firecrackers stacked on the rear seat and in the boot, police said.
The occupants allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for carrying the consignment, following which they were apprehended and the firecrackers and the car were seized.
The accused have been identified as two women, aged 44 and 33, both residents of Geetanjali Park in Sagarpur, southwest Delhi, and Shubham, 28, a resident of Badarpur in south Delhi.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they had procured the firecrackers from Gurugram in Haryana to supply them in the area, police said.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosives Act, and further investigation is underway.
No previous criminal involvement has been found against any of the three accused, police added.
