FreJun launches Teler to power AI-driven voice applications

Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based cloud calling and voice infrastructure company FreJun has launched Teler, a programmable voice platform designed to help developers and enterprises build, deploy and scale AI-powered voice applications.

Teler functions as a Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), enabling applications to make and receive phone calls, stream live conversations to AI systems in real time and manage call flows through APIs, webhooks and SDKs. The platform is initially available in India and the Middle East, with plans to expand to other global markets.

The company said Teler is designed for sectors including banking, financial services and insurance, healthcare, retail, logistics, education and customer service, where AI voice agents are increasingly being used for customer support, sales, collections and appointment scheduling.

The platform aims to simplify the telecom infrastructure required for deploying voice-based AI systems. It manages carrier connectivity, call routing and live media streaming, allowing developers to focus on building AI applications rather than handling the underlying communications infrastructure.

For instance, when a customer calls an AI-powered support number, Teler can stream the conversation to the organisation’s AI system in real time. The AI can respond, provide information, transfer the caller to a human agent or record the conversation through programmable controls. Recordings and event logs can subsequently be accessed through APIs for analytics, compliance and workflow automation.

FreJun founder and CEO Subhash Kalluri said reliable phone connectivity was critical to taking AI voice applications from prototypes to production.

“Building a great AI model is only half the challenge; making it work reliably over real phone networks is what determines whether it succeeds in the real world,” he said.

FreJun CTO Nikhilesh Thothara said Teler combines telecom networks, live media, call orchestration and event handling into a developer-friendly platform.
