Former India spinner Amit Mishra joins Delhi Capitals as spin-bowling coch ahead of IPL 2027
New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) have made another addition to their backroom staff as they have roped in former India spinner Amit Mishra as their spin-bowling coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027. Mishra will join an elite group of ex-cricketers in the current DC coaching staff.

DC recently appointed former India captain Sourav Ganguly as their head coach before roping in Yuvraj Singh and Chaminda Vaas as their assistant coach and fast bowling coach, respectively. The franchise has completely revamped their backroom staff ahead of the new season.
Mishra, who represented Delhi Capitals as a player, has returned to the franchise as their spin-bowling coach. The former leg spinner has extensive experience in the IPL, having played 162 matches across 16 seasons in the tournament.
Amit Mishra’s IPL credentials
He made his IPL debut in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008 and was part of the Delhi Capitals, who were formerly known as Delhi Daredevils. Mishra played for DC for ten seasons and also represented the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Deccan Chargers and Lucknow Super Giants in his IPL career.
Mishra last played in the IPL in the 2024 season. He has 174 wickets to his name in 162 IPL matches and holds the distinction of being the only player to have taken a hat-trick for three different teams in his IPL career. He has taken hat-tricks for Delhi Daredevils in 2008, Deccan Chargers in 2011 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013 in his IPL career.
Delhi Capitals’ move to appoint Mishra comes after they recently traded young left-arm spinner Zeeshan Ansari from Sunrisers Hyderabad while letting go of left-arm pacer T Natarajan. Ansari was roped in as a replacement for Kuldeep Yadav after DC traded the left-arm spinner to LSG in exchange for Rishabh Pant, who returned to his former team.
DC currently have spinners like Ansari, skipper Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam and Rehan Ahmed in their side who are set to benefit from Mishra’s arrival as the spin-bowling coach.
