Djokovic, Sabalenka to team up in star-studded US Open mixed doubles

New Delhi: Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka are set to pair up for the 2026 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, forming what is easily one of the most exciting teams in the tournament. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) released a stacked entry list for the updated event, instantly turning the duo into heavy favourites. The pairing brings together Djokovic’s 24 Grand Slam titles and Sabalenka’s current status as the women’s world No.1.

The USTA is sticking with the new format introduced last year, which has successfully pulled in top-tier singles talent. Running across August 25 and 26, right before the main singles draw gets underwayas the event offers a massive US $1 million prize for the winning team. Six pairs will earn direct entry based on their combined singles rankings after the August 17 deadline, with wildcards and qualifiers filling the remaining spots. Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori are also slated to return.

This year’s lineup is shapes up to be one of the strongest in Grand Slam history. Alongside Djokovic and Sabalenka, fans can look forward to seeing Iga Swiatek play with Casper Ruud, Elena Rybakina join Taylor Fritz, and Naomi Osaka team up with Kei Nishikori. Other notable teams include Jessica Pegula with Jack Draper, as well as Alex Eala alongside Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Off-court chemistry gives duo the edge
