Delhi Police officials told ANI that permission for the singer’s concert had been reconsidered and granted after the organisers presented a detailed security plan addressing the concerns raised by the authorities.
“Permission for Singer reconsidered and granted,” Delhi Police officials told ANI.
The organisers subsequently held further discussions with the police and presented a detailed plan dealing with the security and crowd-management issues. Following those meetings, Delhi Police reconsidered its earlier decision and gave the concert the go-ahead.
BookMyShow has also dismissed reports suggesting that the Delhi leg of Diljit’s Aura India Tour had been cancelled. The ticketing platform said the concert would take place as scheduled after permission was granted following discussions with Delhi Police.
According to BookMyShow, its team held a “cordial and constructive” meeting with the police and subsequently submitted a detailed plan addressing the authorities’ concerns. Following this, permission for the concert was “reconsidered and issued”.
The development brings relief to fans after uncertainty surrounded the October 30 show following Delhi Police’s initial refusal to grant permission.
Why was Diljit Dosanjh’s concert initially denied permission?
Delhi Police had earlier turned down the request to hold the concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing specific threat-related inputs as well as wider security and law-and-order commitments during the festive season.
The decision came shortly after Diljit’s team shared a reel indicating that the Delhi concert was scheduled for October 30.
In a letter addressed to BookMyShow, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) had explained why permission could not be granted at the time.
“Sir, with reference to your application dated 14.10.2026 on the subject cited above, I am to inform you that your request for organising ‘Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour Delhi’ at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, on 30.10.2026 has been examined by this office. In view of the specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law & order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law & order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to,” the letter read.
Diljit’s Aura India Tour Delhi concert is now set to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30 as scheduled.
