Days after quitting BJP, singer Jubin Nautiyal’s father, Ramsharan joins Congress

New Delhi: Ramsharan Nautiyal, father of Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal on Monday joined the Congress party, just days after he quit the BJP. Notably he was in the Congress Party till 2014, when he quit to join the BJP.

The move happened just months ahead of the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections. He had also recently indicated a lack of respect for him in the BJP. This might have driven the decision to quit the BJP, which is currently the ruling party in the state (of Uttarakhand).

After resigning from the BJP, Nautiyal was quoted by the Times of India as saying, “I have resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party. If the BJP president has said that the resignation has not been received, that is possible because I did not go personally to submit it. I sent my stenographer to the office.”

He later also said that he had emailed his resignation to Uttarakhand BJP President Mahendra Bhatt. This followed reports that the party had not received the resignation letter.

On Monday he joined the Congress or one can say rejoined the Congress party at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office in New Delhi.

Talking about the reason behind the departure, Nautiyal had said that someone who had been associated with the party for 10-12 years would not leave without a reason. He said that when someone leaves a place, the reason behind it should be respected. He went on to add that “And if respect is not given then one will distance oneself.”
