He will neither look at heads nor borders; He’ll cross into enemy territory and kill them while they’re alive.)”, Karan Deol says as Sunny Deol rides a horse carriage on the streets of Pakistan. , which was initially titled ‘‘, has all the elements – emotions, actions, and a fight for the righteous- that promise to make it worth a watch.

The trailer opens with a family comprising a father, mother, a son, and a daughter. The couple congratulate each other on India’s Independence, but soon realise that they have to move to Pakistan due to the partition.
As they reach Pakistan and a large haveli is allotted to them, they find an elderly woman who denies moving out of her home. She performs puja, celebrates Diwali and other Hindu festivals in Pakistan, triggering hatred and outrage from the Muslim community.
From here on, Sunny and the family vows to protect the elderly woman (played by Shabana Azmi). As intruders barge into their home, Sunny says, “Mandir todna Islam nahi hai (Damaging temples is not in accordance with Islam).”
He also fights with mob in his true Gadar style, who attacks her for being a Hindu. He says, “Her bachche ka pehla mazhab maa hota hai. (Every child’s first religion is their mother).”
Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi fallout
Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi had a fallout during the making of their respective Bhagat Singh films in the early 2000s. It was then reported that Santoshi was supposed to direct 23rd March 1931: Shaheed, which was headlined by Bobby Deol, and Sunny in the role of Chandrashekhar Azad. However, Santoshi walked out of the project and made his own take on Bhagat Singh, starring Ajay Devgn. After the rift, they never worked together until now.

Batwara 1947 is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions. The film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s 1989 play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai’ ((The one who hasn’t experienced Lahore, hasn’t lived yet).
The film stars Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh and Ali Fazal in key roles. The film is scheduled to release during Independence Day weekend, on August 14.
