Ayushmann Khurrana receives extortion threat; caller claims Lawrence Bishnoi gang link, one detained

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has received a threatening audio message from a person who claims to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The sender allegedly demanded crores of rupees from the actor, prompting the Mumbai Police to launch an investigation. The police have detained one person identified as Vaibhav Mishra, who is a techie, in connection with the extortion threat call, according to police sources.

According to police sources, the threatening audio clip is suspected to be fake. Investigators are now trying to establish who sent the message and whether the person has any genuine connection with the gang. The development comes amid growing concerns over the safety of Bollywood celebrities following the firing incident targeting actor in Mumbai last month.

Ayushmann Khurrana receives extortion threat

According to sources in the Mumbai Police, Ayushmann Khurrana received an audio message in which the sender allegedly introduced himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded a large sum of money. A senior police officer confirmed that the actor had received the threatening clip. But investigators are not taking the caller’s claims at face value.

Police are reviewing the recording to determine the identity of the sender and whether the threat is real or an attempt to create panic. As part of the investigation, the audio clip is being compared with an existing voice sample of an accused individual whose recording is already available in police records.

The authorities are also trying to identify the person or group responsible for circulating such messages. For now, no FIR has been registered in connection with the alleged threat to Ayushmann Khurrana.

Tusshar Kapoor also received a threatening message

The development comes just a day after actor reportedly received a similar threatening audio message. According to reports, the sender allegedly identified himself as Harry Boxer, claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The caller demanded Rs 5 crore from the actor, reports said.

But initial investigations have raised questions over the authenticity of the audio clip. Police believe the message may be fake, but the investigation is continuing.

Firing of Tiger Shroff sparks security concerns

The latest developments come weeks after a firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff was reported from Mumbai. The shots were fired near Tiger’s car in the Juhu area near Pushpa Park on Oct 18. The actor was unhurt, but the driver sustained injuries in the incident.

Security arrangements were reportedly beefed up outside the residences of several Bollywood celebrities in Mumbai’s Juhu and Bandra areas after the attack.
