Taking to Instagram, Ed gave fans a glimpse into how the collaboration came together. He shared a video of himself recording his portion of the track, along with snippets from the song. What particularly caught everyone’s attention was his attempt at singing the Hindi portions.
Recalling his first meeting with Shah Rukh, Ed revealed that the actor had expressed his wish to have him record a song for one of his films. “When I first met Shah Rukh, he said I must make a song to be in his next movie and also be my first Bollywood song. We’ve got to know each other over the years, and I love him,” the singer wrote.
Ed also spoke about his recent visit to India, when he went to Shah Rukh’s residence to convince him to make a cameo appearance in the music video for ‘Sapphire’, his collaboration with Arijit Singh.
It was during that meeting that Shah Rukh introduced him to music composer duo Sachin-Jigar. The introduction quickly turned into a musical collaboration. “He introduced me to Sachin-Jigar that day, and I wrote and recorded my verse for ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ for his movie King that night. I love that Arijit is singing on it with me too, all my favourite people on one project,” Ed added.
SRK and Deepika in ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’
Featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, Tu Mil Jaaye brings romance and emotional intensity together. The song highlights the familiar chemistry between the two stars, who have previously shared screen space in films such as Pathaan and Jawan.
However, the track is not limited to romantic moments. Its visuals also offer glimpses of bloodshed, high-octane action and stylised sequences, hinting at the dangerous world surrounding the film’s central characters. From foreign locations to catchy dance moments, the song offers plenty for fans to enjoy. One of its standout moments comes when Shah Rukh introduces his character with the dialogue, “Main katil nahi, aashiq hoon, nishana meri masooqa, aur woh aashiqui kya jo dil cheer na de.”
