Apple opens retail employee lottery ahead of September iPhone 18 launch event
New Delhi: Apple is preparing for its biggest product launch of the year by inviting US retail employees to apply for a chance to help at its September launch event. During the face-to-face launch of the company’s next-generation products, some employees will help with the management of guests, security and event handling.

Apple has announced its new “Event Support Experience Program” for qualified U.S. retail staff, as reported by Bloomberg. Those chosen by a lottery will assist in organising lines for attendees, check in attendees, give directions, welcome visitors, and support security staff during the event.

The deadline for retail staff to apply for the opportunity has now been set for August 8, and Apple has called on interested workers to apply. Selected participants will be announced by the company by Aug. 17, said an internal memo quoted by Bloomberg.
The memo indicates that the launch will take place in the first half of September, but Apple hasn’t given a definite date yet. The company’s habit has been to announce new iPhones on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of September.
The September event is expected to be a major milestone
This year’s release is likely to be significant, as it will be the first major product introduction under the leadership of new CEO John Ternus, taking over from Tim Cook on September 1.
Bloomberg reports that Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, new Apple Watch models, and other hardware. Apple has not officially confirmed the product lineup.
The programme is not open to employees who attended this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) or last year’s iPhone launch. Apple didn’t respond to Bloomberg requests for comment on the internal memo.
