Allu Arjun looks back at his iconic Gona Ganna Reddy role as ‘Rudhramadevi’ turns 11

Hyderabad: Pan-Indian star Allu Arjun, who played a brief but pivotal role in director Gunasekhar’s Telugu period film ‘Rudhramadevi’, starring Anushka Shetty in the lead, on Friday called his character in the film “iconic” as the movie completed 11 years.

Taking to X to share stills from the film, Allu Arjun, who played the prince Gona Ganna Reddy, wrote, “11 Years of #Rudhramadevi. #GonaGannaReddy. An iconic character in my filmography. Thank you everyone for being a part of this journey. EYY … GAMMUNUNDAVOYY.”

The actor also shared a couple of stills from the film to mark the occasion.

Earlier in the day, the film’s production house, Gunaa Teamworks, marked the completion of 11 years with a poster.

Taking to X, the production house wrote, “11 Years of Rudhramadevi — The Legacy of a Warrior Queen! A saga of courage, power, and valour that continues to live in our hearts. ‘Rudhramadevi’ is a period action film based on the life of Rudrama Devi, a woman ruler of the Kakatiya dynasty in the Deccan region of India.

Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the film featured Anushka Shetty as Rudhramadevi. The cast also included Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Vikramjeet Virk, Krishnam Raju, Prakash Raj, Suman, Nithya Menen, Adithya and Catherine Tresa in pivotal roles.

On the technical front, the film featured music by Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by Ajayan Vincent. Editing was handled by Sreekar Prasad, while art direction was by Padma Shri awardee Thota Tharani. The costumes were designed by Neeta Lulla. The dialogues were penned by the Paruchuri Brothers, and the action sequences were choreographed by Peter Hein and Vijay.
