New Delhi: Brazilian MMA fighter Allan Nascimento passed away at the age of 34 on Monday after suffering a heart attack in his sleep. The UFC confirmed the tragic news of his death by sharing a post on their official social media handles. Nascimento’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the MMA community.

Nascimento was reportedly found unresponsive on Monday morning after suffering a heart attack, UFC said in a statement. The medical team reached his home and responded to the incident, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. UFC offered its condolences to Nascimento’s family and friends.

“This morning, Monday, August 3rd, our beloved fighter and exemplary flyweight, Allan Nascimento, was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep,” UFC said in a statement.

“Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” it added.

Nascimento, a flyweight MMA fighter, made his UFC debut in 2021 and enjoyed a 4-2 record in the Octagon. His last UFC appearance came in June this year, when he locked horns with Mitch Raposo in the ring. The Brazilian lost the fight decision.

Nascimento also enjoyed a strong record in his MMA career, with 22 wins and 7 losses in 29 matches. He trained under coach Diego Lima in Brazil and shared the ring with some of the most popular Brazilian fighters, including the likes of former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and UFC lightweight Elves Brener.

Allan Nascimento’s gym pays tribute

Allan Nascimento’s gym, Chute Boxe Diego Lima, paid tribute to the MMA fighter after his untimely demise. Nascimento was a popular figure at the gym, which has trained multiple MMA fighters.

“We lost a warrior, a friend, a dedicated competitor and an extraordinary human being,” his gym said in a social media post.

“Allan inspired on and off the mats with his determination, humility, respect and fighting spirit. Your presence will be missed immeasurably. Rest in peace, Allan. Your name, your story and your legacy will live forever,” it added.

Nascimento is survived by his family, friends and teammates, who have been sharing tributes in his remembrance.
